Charlotte Area Technology Collaborative announces the appointment of four new members to the Board of Directors.

Joining the Board of Directors are Murali Bandaru, American Tire Distributors; Jim Burroughs, Slalom Consulting; Angelic Gibson, AvidXchange and Dr. Fatma Mili, UNC Charlotte College of Computing and Informatics. “All four of our newest Board members embody the spirit of community and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table. We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to unite the Charlotte technology community to grow and advance an inclusive talent pipeline”, Joe Topinka, SnapAV and CATC Board President.

Murali Bandaru,  CIO American Tire Distributors

Murali is a seasoned IT executive with 25+ years managing, analyzing, designing, and deploying software development/implementation projects for various industry domains. He serves as the CIO at American Tire Distributors. He has strong senior level technology management skills with business-focus, financial management and resource management capabilities to influence growth, improve quality and consistency. Murali thrives in meeting challenges and initiatives.

 Jim Burroughs,  Managing Director Slalom Consulting

Jim serves as Managing Director at the Charlotte office (now 1 year old).  He is responsible for growth, innovation and building teams and practices to serve the local Charlotte market.   

Jim joined Slalom after than 18 years at Accenture where he served as Managing Director where he was responsible for partnering with Financial Services clients to bring innovative ideas and pragmatic execution to achieve desired outcomes.

Angelic Gibson, CIO AvidXchange

Angelic Gibson joined AvidXchange in October 2018 as the Chief Information Officer.

Angelic has spent over 20 years in Information Technology serving the following industries: Higher Education, Wholesale Distribution and Logistics, Retail and Manufacturing in public, private equity and IPO models; including Technekes, LLC, American Tire Distributors (ATD), Estee Lauder, Inc, Sleepy’s, and the State University of NY.

Angelic has held various leadership positions, including most recently, the SVP, Information Technology at Technekes, based in Charlotte, NC. Previously, she worked for American Tire leading various IT operations functions since 2008.

Angelic has deep experience in enterprise technology systems and management practices supporting databases, networks, telecommunications, and infrastructure.  She was also central to the development and execution of information security standards, a technology program management office, and disaster recovery best practices.  She has built and supported business intelligence/data management platforms and has extensive cloud computing strategic insight.

Dr.  Fatma Mili,  Dean UNC Charlotte CCI

Dr. Fatma Mili joined UNC Charlotte’s College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) as its Dean in August 2017 after serving as Department Head of Computer Information Technology, Associate Dean for Educational Research and Development, and then Executive Director of the TransSTEM Center at Purdue University.

Mili holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris, France. Her research focus is in the areas of decision-making, formal methods in computing, and complex and self-organizing systems. The role Higher Education plays as an agent of social change has been an underlying theme in her work. She advocates for a STEM education embedded in ethics, for curricular design and pedagogy where inclusivity and equity are key ingredients rather than afterthought add-ons, and for a research agenda grounded in the most pressing challenges and focused on long-term impact.
